As TV Deets has previously reported, The Real Housewives of New York City star and her Million Dollar Listing New York counterpart are taking their relationship from personal to professional with the announcement of the upcoming show. At the time of the press release, Bethenny and Fredrik’s show simply had a working title of Bethenny and Fredrik Property Project, which is typical practice for the industry until they come up with a show’s real name.
Bethenny was in attendance at the NBCUniversal Upfront presentation just yesterday (May 15) and opened up to Bravo’s The Daily Dish about what her new show with Fredrik is all about. “We’ve been filming it for about a month and it’s stressful and hilarious,” she explains. “I mean it’s really funny, but it’s very intense. It’s so real and I keep saying to Fredrik, ’cause his show is more formatted, and I keep saying to him, ‘The show’s always going to be ahead of you. You will never be able to keep up with the show.’ And it keeps happening, and he’s like, ‘I don’t even know what’s going on.’ He said we filmed for so long, which is more like Housewives. I’m like, ‘Yeah, we’re filming for hours and see what happens.’ We’re having a great time.”
Despite the differences between MDLNY and RHONY, Fredrik seems to be getting accustomed to his new filming schedule. “He’s handling it phenomenally well because people haven’t seen this side of him,” she continues. “People see Fredrik in charge of everything and he’s the business guy. And he is and he’s amazing, but this is showing when you film for two hours, you’re gonna see something different. And so this is different for him and it’s amazing. I think it’s bringing out a side of him that people have never seen. I mean I know it is. And it’s different for me. My production company B Real is producing it, so I’m involved in the process and the editing. I’m excited. I think it’s really good.”
The show will reportedly feature the duo renovating — and selling! — multi-million dollar properties but Bethenny tells Bravo that it’s all using their own money. “It’s both of us investing millions of dollars of our own money, which neither of us have ever done before,” she continues. “So you’re getting a high-stakes situation and it’s scary ’cause it doesn’t matter if Bravo would love a happy ending. If we’re not coming to terms, there’s no happy ending. So I have no idea what’s going to happen.”
In addition to Bethenny’s gig on RHONY and this new show, she has also signed on for the next season of ABC’s Shark Tank, adding to her already very busy schedule. While we’re a little concerned that this might take Bethenny away from Housewives, it looks like the mini-mogul doesn’t really care.
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Wednesdays on Bravo and Slice; Million Dollar Listing New York premieres May 25 on Bravo and Slice, and Keeping It Real Estate is expected to premiere later this year.
