‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’: Chief Stew Jenna MacGillivray Apologizes—Again
Chief Stew Jenna MacGillivray hasn’t had the easiest season on Bravo’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
The show is the latest spinoff in the Below Deck series and also stars Adam Glick, Paget Berry, Ciara Duggan, Glenn Shephard, Georgia Rose, Byron Hissey, and Madison Stalker.
This season, Jenna’s stews Georgia and Madison have been pretty comfortable unleashing on the Chief Stew in their confessional interviews, calling her out for constantly under-appreciating them while she, in their opinion, spends most of her time in the galley with Chef Adam.
In addition to the drama with the stews, Captain Glenn also had to talk to Jenna about her behaviour and leadership style on the show’s latest episode and viewers haven’t been quiet on social media about their feelings. Regardless, it’s safe to say that it hasn’t been smooth sailing for her.
Just this week, Jenna responded to the backlash, taking to Instagram to apologize and explain her perspective.
“I got lost this season. Lost in a love I believed in. Lost in a person I believed in,” she started. “I’m a hopeless romantic that grew up on Disney and foolishly believed I too could find an everlasting love. And for years, when I met someone I felt was worth it, I gave it everything I had. And that is my fault, because in that process I forget no one is going to catch me when I fall.”
She continued, “I tried my hardest this season to be a boss. I tried my hardest to be open and vulnerable, and to many of you, that simply wasn’t good enough. But I tried and I will try again. I made mistakes. And you’ll see at the reunion how that transpires.”

“It saddens me mostly because I’m a person that takes joy in making others happy,” she explained. “There were a lot of complexities at play. I’ve apologized to Madison, Georgia, and Parker. I most recently apologized to Glenn for my tone and behaviour in last nights episode. I feel when I apologize people get mad at me, and if I say nothing, I also get chastised. Im trying my best. We are all human and make mistakes. So Im just going to chug this beer in my hand and eat some humble pie.”
Captain Glenn responded in the comments, explaining to Jenna that she doesn’t need to apologize to him and agreeing that the audience isn’t seeing her full personality.
“Hey Jenna, you have no need to apologize to me, you’re great in my book, the audience will never know you the way I know you, it’s obvious now that they don’t see the the whole picture, how could they?” he posted.
“You’re not perfect, none of us are, but I’m sure you’re a big enough person to learn from the mistakes and get better moving forward, I take responsibility for not picking up on the tensions sooner, that I might have helped smooth them, but it’s no easy thing we do, and we all knew that going in,” he continued.

“Remember it’s not just the message, but how it’s delivered also, that can make the difference. I’d be proud to work with you again, as I told you at the end of last summer’s season in Corfu. Don’t let the haters and trolls get to you, their vitriol stems from things missing in their lives that they get pleasure in tearing down others, nothing good ever comes from that. Big hugs from Barcelona until we meet again.”
This season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been controversial, to say the least, but at the end of the day, that’s what we’re looking for when it comes to juicy reality TV.
While we do think it’s appropriate that Jenna is being held accountable for her behaviour, she has apologized twice now and they seem to be genuine, heartfelt apologies. Hopefully, the upcoming reunion special allows Jenna a bigger opportunity to address both her co-stars and the audience and hopefully move forward in a positive direction.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays on Bravo and Slice.
