‘Below Deck Med’s Captain Sandy Yawn Shares A Sneak Peek At Her New Restaurant Maritime 618

Sandy had previously asked fans for name recommendations.

Captain Sandy Yawn took to Instagram just yesterday (September 11) to share a sneak peek at her new restaurant, Maritime 618.

“We have a name! Maritime 618! Thank you everyone for submitting your suggested names,” she captioned a rendering of her new restaurant in a post on her official Instagram page. “It was a hard choice and I’m thankful to Susan Goldstein for her suggested name! My partner Chad Quist is working with the contractors getting bids so we can start breaking ground! Our goal is to be open by November 2021!”

As previously reported, Captain Sandy Yawn announced that she was going into the restaurant business back in June, sharing with Below Deck Med fans that she recently purchased an old fire station with the goal of turning it into what will now be called Maritime 618.

The fire station is 106-years-old and located in Jacksonville, Florida, and will boast a bustling rooftop patio in addition to a restaurant on the main floor.

Florida Homes Realty’s James Angelo brokered the sale of the two-story firehouse for $185,000 USD and the 7,600 square feet was last sold for $265,000 USD back in 2009. Currently, the unit is vacant and zoned for commercial use, meaning Sandy should be able to go in and immediately begin to renovate.

In the post announcing the purchase of the building, Sandy had asked Below Deck Med fans to submit their name recommendations, so it is pretty cool that she actually went with one of the options.

Below Deck Med reunion

In addition to this new venture, Sandy has her hands full with the current season of Below Deck Med. Due to series-high ratings and high drama, Bravo has commissioned a reunion special to be a part of an upcoming episode of Watch What Happens Live and while it is usually the crew that has the most to answer for, Sandy is also expected to be in the hot seat this time around.

This season, Sandy has faced backlash from some viewers over what they perceive as micromanaging, and she is also facing heat for firing fan favourites Chef Kiko and Hannah Ferrier.

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays on Bravo.
