Andy Cohen Implies Bravo Sees No Issue With Lisa Rinna And Harry Hamlin’s Shocking 2015 Halloween Costume

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star previously apologized for the costume which has resurfaced as other reality stars are put on blast for their behaviour. Andy Cohen claims to have dealt with the photo.

UPDATED June 18, 2020 3:20 pm EST: Andy Cohen has once again responded to a fan asking about the costume, brushing off the concerns:

ORIGINAL STORY: Lisa Rinna seems to be in hot water with some fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills but if a new tweet from Andy Cohen is any indication, she shouldn’t be worried about being fired from Bravo any time soon.

“We beat this stupid Halloween costume to death about 3 or 4 years ago,” he tweeted about the photo depicting the RHOBH stars in a racist costume, implying that Bravo isn’t concerned about reaction to the photo.

(Andy is an Executive Producer on The Real Housewives franchise and therefore, responsible for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.)

Back in October 2015, Lisa Rinna and husband Harry Hamlin attended George Clooney’s Halloween bash dressed in Nazi uniform, later claiming that they were dressed as Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and troubled girlfriend Nancy Spungen.

For those unfamiliar with the band, according to Spungen’s Wikipedia page, she was found dead in February 1979 and Vicious was initially charged with her murder, before he died of a drug overdose after being released on bail. Their relationship was troubled and controversial, to say the least, making Rinna’s decision to wear the costume even more questionable.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star previously apologized for the costume which has resurfaced as the Black Lives Matter movement has gained traction following the murder of George Floyd.

Just days after the Halloween party, Lisa Rinna posted an apology on her official Instagram page, which you can still view on her page.

“If I hurt you, we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes,” she posted, failing to actually take accountability. “It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that.”

“That was never our intention,” she continued. “We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry.”

The costume has dogged Lisa Rinna for years but with fans of the network demanding other stars be fired over their past racist behaviour, she may not be able to escape accountability this time around.

As previously reported, Bravo fired Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni from RHOBH spinoff Vanderpump Rules just last week over their past racist actions caused fans to flood the network’s social media with complaints.

Bravo and Evolution Media, who oversee both The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules, recently announced they had fired four cast members over their past racist behaviour. Fans are now demanding Andy Cohen give the same treatment be given to Lisa Rinna and husband Harry Hamlin. (Photo: Bravo)

The network is currently facing backlash for keeping Jax Taylor employed, and Lisa Rinna getting away with her behaviour from only 5 years ago isn’t going over well with fans, either.

While it may be true that the photo is from five years ago, Rinna doesn’t have the defence of “it was a different time” or “my views have changed”.

Considering that five years ago isn’t actually that long ago and she was almost immediately forced to release a statement at the time, it seems that she should have been aware of the implications of her actions. And seeing as Bravo has taken swift action to deal with the racist actions of some of their other biggest stars, it seems odd to allow Rinna go to unscathed.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills returns to Bravo this July.
